Company convicted over industrial accident
Olympic Industries have been fined $99,000 and convicted over an industrial incident in which as worker lost part of four fingers. The company plead guilty to breaches of the Work Health and Safety act over the incident, which occurred in 2015. A forklift driver was inspecting a guillotine which he had minimal training in using, when a support arm lowered unexpectedly, crushing his hand. There had been no hazard ID on the machinery.
